The MN Association of Charter Schools (MACS) has awarded Yinghua Academy a second Innovation Award! The 2017 award recognizes us for innovative measurement of outcomes through the annual Academic Performances program developed in 2007 by Dr. Luyi Lien, Academic Director. During classroom-based events in spring of each year, students show and share what they know in a performance that integrates Chinese, math, science and social studies topics: Watch the 2017 Innovation video.
In November 2016, Yinghua received the MACS award for new forms of accountability through its pioneering collaboration with Minnesota Online High School to create three levels of Advanced Chinese online courses for K-8 immersion graduates. Immersion elementary schools are proliferating in the US, but high schools and colleges haven’t caught up. This program, with multiple levels of accountability, bridges the gap.
