TRAVEL TEAMs (co-ed)

Our travel teams are for students in grades 5-8.  These teams will play against other schools in a league called LIST. Practice is held here at Yinghua Academy. A typical week is two practices and one game. Games are either at Yinghua or other schools. Grades 5-6 play games on Wednesdays and grades 7-8 play games on Fridays.

IN-HOUSE LEAGUE (co-ed)

Our in-house league is typically for students in grades 3-6. In-house means that Yinghua students will play against each other. There are 8 weekday sessions and no traveling to nor playing against other schools.

FALL SPORTS

Soccer Traveling Team:  Co-ed Grades 5-8. Season runs from September-early November.

  • Registration forms->FULL. Seasons started August 30.

Soccer In-house League:  Grades 3 & 4.  The season runs for 8 weeks on Tuesdays (Grade 4) and Thursdays (Grade 3: 7 sessions)  starting in September and ending in early November.

Sports Sampler:  Grades 1-3. The season runs for 8 weeks on Tuesdays starting in September and ending in late October.

Badminton In-house League: Grades 4-8.  The season runs for 8 weeks on Tuesdays starting in September and ending in early November.

Cross Country Running Team:  Grades 4-8.  Season starts in September and finishes mid-October. Practices are on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:40-5:00 p.m.

WINTER SPORTS

Basketball Traveling Team:  Co-ed Grades 5-8. The season starts mid-November and ends in mid-February.

Floor Hockey In-house: Grades 3-6.  The season runs for 4-6 weeks starting in February and ending in March. Thursdays 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Dragon Cross Country Ski Team: Grades 5-8. The season runs from December through early March, and we’re looking for a few more 5th and 6th grade participants.

  • Details: Trainings are Tuesdays and Thursdays and some weekends at Theodore Wirth Park. Season starts December 1-early March.

SPRING SPORTS

Volleyball Traveling Team:  Grades 5-8.  The season starts in mid-February and ends in early May.

Track & Field Team:  Grades 6-8. The season runs from mid-April to end of May. Grades 4-5 is in-house track. Seasons starts late April-mid May for 8 sessions. Grade 6-8 track meets: April 20 and May 1.

YA Athletic Program Statement: To prepare our student athletes to be respectful, successful and happy competitors by providing a safe and supportive sports experience within a fun, challenging, well-rounded and well-organized athletic program.

Program Expectations:
At Yinghua Academy we believe that participation in athletics plays an important and valuable role in the social-emotional growth of students and also recognize the positive impact sports can have on student leadership and learning. In addition to teaching athletic skills, a successful sports program allows student athletes to foster friendships, develop confidence, teach sportsmanship and build self-esteem.
