Dear 3A Families,
Welcome to third grade! I am really looking forward to our upcoming year together. Third grade is an exciting year for students and parents, and I’d like to give you a little information about the beginning of the year.
First, let me introduce myself briefly. My name is Wu laoshi and I will be your child’s new teacher. I am starting my second year at Yinghua. I come from Taipei, Taiwan and get my master education degree in University of Minnesota. I love being with nature. I like traveling and taking photos. When I am at home, I love to read and listen to the music. I absolutely love teaching. I am so excited for this year and I know it is going to be very memorable for you, your student and myself.
This year our class will be exploring a lot of exciting topics. In science, we’ll learn about animal classifications, astronomy and human body, ecology. In social studies, we’ll learn about world geography, ancient Roma, ancient China, early explores in North American, Native American. In math, we’re going to drive into multiplication, geometry, fractions and many other exciting topics. In literacy, we’ll be having reading workshop and writing workshop. You’ll be amazed at how much reading and writing your student will do this year!
As the year begins, we’ll also spend some time learning classroom routines and getting to know each other. As we explore new learning topics and review some content form second grade, we’ll also work at becoming a strong community together. When students feel safe and comfortable in their classrooms, they’re better able to take on academic challenges.
In a few weeks, we’ll have our Back to School Curriculum Night. Here’s something you can start thinking about for that evening: What are your hopes for your third grader this year in school? What kinds of academic and social goals do you have for your child? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Please contact me if you have any questions. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’m looking forward to meeting you and to a great year!
