Last week, Yinghua Academy was notified of two grant awards supporting programming next year: School Arts Board via Northern Clay Center and General Mills Champions for Healthy Kids. We are honored to be recognized by both organizations! More about each grant is below.
Northern Clay Center, in partnership with Yinghua Academy, has received a $5000 grant from the School Arts Board to provide in-class clay experiences for K-8 students. Northern Clay’s residency with students will also stress the Chinese cultural traditions in pottery, and may involve middle school field trips to the Northern Clay Center for potter’s wheel experience.
Yinghua has been recognized by General Mills Foundation with a Champions for Healthy Kids $10,000 grant to promote a School Wellness Initiative next school year, focusing on increasing students’ physical activity levels throughout the day and improving their overall nutrition with an emphasis on healthy snacking, incorporating more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into their diets, both at school and at home. General Mills received 1,100 applicants and issued only 50 awards across the U.S. This is a fitting follow-up to our 2010/11 Minneapolis Healthy Schools Initiative grant and subsequent Wellness by Design Award recognition by Hennepin County! This entry was posted in News, Press.
